Free Postgraduate Innovation Management Qualification

Are you a female working in your family business in the West of Scotland? Would you like to:

  • Participate in a free Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) in Innovation Management which is accredited by Glasgow Caledonian University?
  • Develop your managerial and leadership skills?

Perhaps you have missed out on the opportunity to engage with higher education, and would love to get the opportunity to change this situation, If you bring enthusiasm and a commitment to work hard then this could be for you...

The programme

Supported by European Structural Funds (Western Scotland Objective 2 Programme) and Glasgow Caledonian University, we have developed a programme of activity which includes an opportunity for 12 female participants to undertake a free (i.e. no direct financial cost to participants) PgC Innovation Management which is accredited by Glasgow Caledonian University.

The programme, commencing in late 2006, is specifically targeted at developing the skills and competencies of 12 female members of family owned/managed businesses from the West of Scotland. The programme will not only provide participants with an opportunity to undertake an accredited degree course but also access to a business psychologist and financial expert for coaching and mentoring.

The aim of the programme is to ensure the longevity (and growth) of these family owned businesses through developing their ability to remain competitive and innovative.

Whilst there is no direct financial cost for this programme, participants will be expected to enthusiastically and actively participate in all activities to ensure maximum gain for themselves and their family business.

Is it for me?

Activities will be mainly work-based and therefore will be attractive to those who have little time for prolonged periods in the classroom but who do need support for learning.

This programme should be particularly attractive to those females who may have joined their family business without participation in a higher education programme (first degree). Previous appropriate work role and experience may be acceptable as entry onto this programme in lieu of a first degree. All applicants will be interviewed though, with a view to establishing their capacity to benefit from undertaking this programme of study.
